Overseas Community Affairs Council (R.O.C), Act of Overseas Compatriot Students Medical Insurance (僑生傷病醫療保險法).

Assigned Insurance Company:

Cathay Life Insurance Company

Eligibility:

New Direct Admission Overseas Compatriot Students with Residence Duration less than 6 months

Insurance Fee:

As notified annually by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (self-payment of NT$600).

Available Medical Institutions: 

Any Medical Facility that cooperates and is covered by National Health Insurance Taiwan.

Insurance Validity:

Valid for 6 months.

Claim Application:

Students who are covered by the Overseas Compatriot Students Medical Insurance must pay the medical bill in advance. After the whole treatment is completed, please prepare the following documents and submit them to the Division of Overseas Students and Scholars Affairs (OSSS) for insurance claim processing:

1. Application for Group Student Insurance Benefits: Fill out at the International Affairs Office, Division of Overseas Students and Scholars Affairs.
2. Original Medical Diagnosis Certificate (sample): Obtain from the hospital or clinic with the official seal of the institution and the physician's signature, including the diagnosis and date of treatment. If multiple receipts are involved, the diagnosis certificate must include the dates of all receipts for the claim application.
3. Original Medical Expense Receipts (sample).
4. Copy of Alien Resident Certificate.
5. Copy of Passport.
6. Copy of Postal Passbook.

Remarks:

Those who are not eligible to participate in National Health Insurance would have to participate in Cathay Medical Insurance at their own expense. All the terms are same as Overseas Compatriot Students Medical Insurance until the students are qualified to participate in National Health Insurance.
