【Forward】Regarding measures to prevent the invasion of foreign animal infectious diseases such as African swine fever.

Recently, there has been an increase in cases of illegal entry of animals through postal services from abroad. Foreign nationals coming to Taiwan are advised not to import quarantine items through express delivery or postal packages to prevent the introduction of major foreign animal infectious diseases such as African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, bovine tuberculosis, and highly pathogenic avian influenza.

Offenders who illegally import such items will face a fine of NTD 200,000 for the first offense and NTD 1 million for subsequent offenses. If the individual does not have a resident status and is unable to pay the NTD 200,000 fine immediately, they will be referred by the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture to the National Immigration Agency under the Ministry of the Interior for denial of entry.
