【Scholarship】NCKU Chinese Language Scholarship — Applications Now Open (Deadline: January 20, 2026)

To encourage outstanding international students to study Chinese and gain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture and society, NCKU offers the NCKU Chinese Language Scholarship Program. Current students of the NCKU Chinese Language Center who meet the eligibility criteria are warmly invited to apply.
🎓 Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of a country or region other than the Republic of China (Taiwan)
(Applicants from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau are not eligible.) - Be at least 18 years old
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Demonstrate excellent academic performance and good conduct
- Be currently enrolled in the NCKU Chinese Language Center at the time of application
🚫 Ineligible Applicants
Applicants who meet any of the following conditions are not eligible:
- Hold an ROC (Taiwan) passport
- Are currently studying Chinese at another language center in Taiwan
- Have previously studied in a degree program at another university/college in Taiwan
- Have previously received the NCKU Chinese Language Scholarship
- Are exchange students admitted under an academic cooperation agreement between a Taiwanese university and a foreign institution during the period of study in Taiwan
- Are simultaneously receiving other scholarships/subsidies established by Taiwan government agencies (institutions) or schools
🗓 Application Guidelines & Required Documents
- Applicants must submit the application within 6 months from the date of registering as a student at the NCKU Chinese Language Center.
- During the application and award period, recipients must continue studying at the NCKU Chinese Language Center.
Required Documents
- Application Form (format provided in Attachment 1)
- Copy of passport or other document that proves nationality
- Copy of highest diploma and academic transcript
- A recommendation letter from an overseas Taiwanese mission or an NCKU faculty teacher
- Records provided by the NCKU Chinese Language Center (e.g., attendance, class performance, total class hours)
- Other supporting documents (if applicable)

NCKU Chinese language students who wish to apply are required to submit the following documents by January 20, 2026, and send them to overseas@ncku.edu.tw :
1. NCKU Chinese Language Scholarship Program Application Form (Word file)
2. Application Documents 1–6 (combined into one single PDF file)

📘 Additional Requirement for the 6-Month Award
Applicants applying for an award period of up to 6 months must also:
- Complete the application for an NCKU Master’s or Ph.D. degree program (Fall intake) within the same academic year/term; and
- If admitted, transition to an NCKU Master’s or Ph.D. program immediately after finishing the Chinese language program.
