Student Counseling and Guidance – 1-on-1 Consultation Regulation
1. Consultation services:
(1) Kung's Hour--Emotional and Stress Assistance: Service is provided in English, on issues of academic or life troubles, emotional stress adjustment, etc.
(2) Chinese and English resume consultation: Guidance on Chinese and English resume writing.
(3) General English writing consultation: English expressions and logics on the writing of letters, essays, autobiographies, study plans, etc.
(4) Academic English writing consultation: English expressions and logics on the writing of research papers, journals articles, etc.
Note: Consultation services on the basic organization, writing logic, cohesion, and coherence of the writing, but do not include those of correction, translation, or post-editing.
2. Eligibility: Registered NCKU students.
3. Schedule: To be announced one month prior to the start of each semester
4. To Sign up:
(1) Appointments can be made no later than one week before the desired date of the consultation session through the " NCKU Activity Information System".
(2) Each person is allowed to sign up for one session of consultation at a time. Another appointment can be made only after the consultation is completed.
(3) For appointments for Academic English Writing Consultation, a 1 on 1 Academic Writing Consultation Form needs to be filled in (as in the attachment).
5. Consultation venues:
(1) Kung’s Hour--Emotional and Stress Assistance: Meeting Room of Office of International Affairs, 1st Floor, Yun-Ping Administration building (East).
(2) Chinese and English Resume Consultation, General English Writing Consultation, and Academic English Writing Consultation: Global Competence Advancement Center, 3rd floor, NCKU Future Venue (Webex for online consultation sessions).
6. Notes for the appointment holders:
(1) Please print the manuscripts needed for the consultation and hand it to the consultant at the consultation session. For Academic English Writing Consultation, a printed 1 on 1 Academic Writing Consultation Form is also needed.
(2) Please bring your student ID for identity check. Consultation is not provided to anyone other than the appointment holder.
(3) Please arrive 5 minutes before the session begins. Latecomers will not be given extended consultation time.
In case an online consultation session is scheduled due to the Covid-19 conditions, please send the consultation document in PDF format to GCAC's mailbox (nckugcac@ncku.edu.tw) with the service requested, date, and the applicant’s name, e.g.: Academic English Writing-3/1-Wang Hsiao-Ming. If the document is not provided before the deadline, the appointment will be cancelled automatically by the Global Competence Advancement Center.
7. Disqualifications:
(1) Applicants who need to cancel an appointment must do so three days prior to the consultation session by making contact with GCAC at (06-2757575#80950/80951) or email (nckugcac@ncku.edu.tw). Failure to do so will lead to a 14-day suspension of the right for consultation appointments. Please be sure to have the appointments made on time available.
(2) Applicants who are 10 minutes late for the session without making prior contact with GCAC are considered absent. Two cases of this type will lead to the disqualification for consultation service for the rest of the semester.
