【NCKU OIA eNews】 NCKU Kicks Off Fall 2025 with a Warm Welcome for New Exchange Students

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) held its Fall 2025 Exchange Student Orientation on September 4, welcoming 57 exchange students from 33 partner universities worldwide. The event, hosted by the Division of Study Abroad, aimed to help new arrivals adjust to academic life and living in Tainan. To support their transition, 31 local student volunteers from the Campuslinker program joined as buddies to accompany and assist the exchange students throughout the semester.

Prof. Shu-Ying Wang, Director of the Division of Study Abroad, opened the program with a warm welcome and an introduction to NCKU, followed by a group photo to commemorate the beginning of their journey.

NCKU welcomed 57 exchange students from 33 partner universities during the orientation.

 

Ms. Ann Yeh, Lieutenant Colonel of the Tainan City Police Department, shared essential safety guidelines, including traffic rules, scam prevention, and personal security. Ms. Nancy Yen, Counselor of NCKU’s Counseling and Wellness Division, provided advice on cultural adjustment and mental health, encouraging students to make use of free on-campus counseling services. In addition, Ms. Yi-Hua Lin, an English-speaking tour guide from the Tainan City Tourism Bureau, introduced the city’s cultural heritage and specialties, inspiring students to explore their new environment.
Practical sessions on course registration, campus facilities, and daily life in Tainan were also offered by NCKU’s inbound exchange coordinator. The orientation concluded with an introduction of Campuslinker buddies and an informal networking session, where exchange students and local students connected over light refreshments.

Through this orientation, NCKU reaffirms its commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment, ensuring that exchange students begin their semester with confidence and enthusiasm.
