【NCKU OIA eNews】 NCKU Expands Footprint in Malaysia: Boosting Global Recruitment, Internship Opportunities, and Alumni Connections

最後更新日期 : 2025-10-02

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) President Meng-Ru Shen led a delegation to Malaysia from September 11 to 14, 2025, to enhance academic, industry, and alumni connections while promoting bilateral cooperation in education and talent cultivation. The visit highlighted new industry partnerships, student recruitment initiatives, and alumni engagement, reflecting NCKU’s growing presence in the ASEAN region.
A key milestone of the visit was the signing of the ASEAN Talent Development Internship Agreement between NCKU and E.SUN Bank on September 13 in Kuala Lumpur. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr. James Buu, Deputy Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia. NCKU was represented by Secretary-General Wei-Cheng Lo, and E.SUN Bank by Vice President Kwang-Yi Hung. Leaders of the NCKU Alumni Association of Malaysia, including President Boon-Han Tan and other committee members, attended the ceremony to celebrate this new milestone in cross-border talent collaboration.

NCKU and E.SUN Bank officially signed the ASEAN Talent Development Internship Agreement on September 13 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This partnership builds upon a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier in February 2025, reaffirming the shared commitment of NCKU and E.SUN Bank to nurture globally minded professionals. By integrating academic programs with internship opportunities across Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam, the collaboration aims to create a win-win model that equips students with professional skills and international perspectives.

NCKU and E.SUN Bank are committed to developing New Southbound talent, aiming to nurture skilled professionals with a global perspective.

In conjunction with industry cooperation, NCKU advanced its recruitment efforts. On September 13, the 40th Mathematics and Science Competition and 4th Business Competition organized by the NCKU Alumni Association of Malaysia took place. Following the competitions, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) held an information session for 330 students and teachers from 44 secondary schools, introducing NCKU’s academic strengths and distinctive programs. On September 14, NCKU conducted an admission consultation session with around 50 prospective students to provide further insights into unleashing their potential in NCKU and the campus life in Tainan.

Chair Prof. Sun-Yuan Hsieh, Vice President for International Affairs, introduced NCKU to prospective students in Malaysia.

NCKU admissions from Malaysia reached a record high this year via the Math and Science Competitions, and Business Competitions, as well as the Outstanding Student Referral Program.

This visit highlights NCKU’s engagement in Malaysia, underscoring its dual mission: to foster industry-academia collaboration while inspiring aspiring students to choose NCKU for their studies. Leveraging alumni networks, industry partnerships, and targeted outreach, NCKU is committed to cultivating outstanding talent with both professional expertise and a global vision, contributing to the educational and economic development in Taiwan and its surrounding areas.
