On July 11, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and Cheng Shiu University (CSU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), symbolizing the commitment of both institutions to bolstering Taiwan’s pool of international high-level talent, strengthening the internationalization of higher education in Southern Taiwan. The MoU was signed by NCKU President Prof. Meng-Ru Shen and CSU President Prof. Jui-Chang Kung, witnessed by the vice presidents and senior administrators of both universities.

President Shen expressed his delight over the collaboration between both universities. He emphasized the importance of cultivating talent for national development and highlighted NCKU’s responsibility to use its abundant resources to not only grow and also work with other institutions in the area, achieving  mutually beneficial partnership that create positive impacts to the area as well as southern Taiwan. NCKU would pledge full administrative support in the collaboration.

Presiden Kung noted the long-standing ties between CSU and NCKU, with many CSU faculty members having roots at NCKU. As CSU expanded its internationalization efforts under the Ministry of Education’s New Southbound Policy, it hosted an increasing number of international students, some of whom continued their studies at NCKU. He hoped the partnership would further strengthen Taiwan’s global talent pool.

The MoU signing ceremony was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The collaboration focuses on supporting international students in Taiwan, encouraging them to further their master’s or doctoral studies in Taiwan, with training that strengthen their research and professional skills. By combining resources, both universities aim to offer integrated support to make Taiwan a top choice for international students pursuing advanced education. Future exchange opportunities at NCKU will allow CSU students to experience its research environment and academic strengths in Taiwan.
In the long run, this collaboration aims to strengthen the international talent pipeline in southern Taiwan, enhancing the higher education institutions’ capability to meet the evolving needs of key industries.
