National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) continues to strengthen its presence and influence in Malaysia. To further enhance its reputation and outreach efforts, NCKU participated in the “Foon Yew High School Higher Education Fair,” held from July 1 to 3, 2025, across Johor Bahru Main Campus, Kulai Campus, and Seri Alam Campus.

Foon Yew High School is one of the largest Chinese independent high schools in Malaysia, with its graduates account for about 11% of Malaysian undergraduate students at NCKU. Across its three campuses, there are approximately 2,244 senior students: 899 at the Johor Bahru Main Campus, 845 at the Kulai Campus, and an estimated 500 at the Seri Alam Campus. This strong student population has positioned Foon Yew as a key source of well-prepared, Mandarin-proficient, and high-achieving students for the university.

Aiming to attract and recruit more top-performing students, NCKU representatives, Prof. Ching-Hsing Wang, Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science, and Mr. Matthew Mak, Manager of the Division of Overseas Recruitment and Admission, Office of International Affairs, visited Johor, Malaysia, to promote the university to a diverse audience. They provided comprehensive information about the university’s programs, application procedures, and various scholarship opportunities to high school graduates. The education fair was also open to the general public, enabling more students and parents interested in higher education to gain valuable insights.

Over the three-day fair, NCKU reached 1,550 students, approximately 70% of all attendees. By partaking in the education fair, NCKU further enhances the university’s reputation and appeal in Malaysia, sparking a stronger interest among these senior students in pursuing study at NCKU.
