Mr. Laurance Chao, CEO of MoveWell, delivering his lecture at NCKU.
As part of the 2025 Global Perspective Lectures (GPL) organized by NCKU Office of International Affairs, the “Out of Your Comfort Zone” lecture was held on April 21, 2025, featuring Mr. Laurance Chao, co-founder and CEO of MoveWell Training Center.
Mr. Chao delivered an inspiring all-English session in which he shared his transformative journey from an electrical engineer in the overseas yacht industry to a fitness entrepreneur in Taiwan. Through compelling stories of failure, courage, and growth—from competing in Spartan Races to launching his own gym—he encouraged students to embrace discomfort as a pathway to growth: “Your brain adapts only when you stretch it,” he emphasized.
The lecture addressed topics such as discovering one’s uniqueness, navigating cultural transitions, and overcoming fear of failure. As part of NCKU’s broader initiative to strengthen students' global competencies, the event attracted both local and international students.
The GPL series aims to expand students’ international outlook through topics like intercultural communication, global citizenship, and leadership. Engaging speakers like Mr. Chao inspire students to dream big and act beyond their comfort zones.
