FAATUM Leaders and Cadres Visit NCKU, Looking Forward to Deepening Taiwan-Malaysia Exchange and Cooperation.

On the morning of March 28, 2025,  President King Hoe Pang and Acting President Chin Hui Gan of the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia (FAATUM) led 60 members to visit NCKU.

To start the session, Prof. Woei Jer Chuang, Executive Vice President of NCKU, welcomed the delegation and highlighted the longstanding collaboration between NCKU and Malaysia. He emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering a diverse learning environment for Malaysian students. As an example, Executive Vice President Chuang cited the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NCKU and Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. (ASE), which reflects the university’s active efforts to provide internship opportunities and strengthen industry-academia linkages.

Prof. Woei Jer Chuang, Executive Vice President of NCKU, presented a gift on behalf of NCKU to FAATUM President King Hoe Pang.

Mr. King Hoe Pang, President of FAATUM, highly praised NCKU’s exceptional academic environment and its leading position in Taiwan’s higher education. He emphasized the crucial role of the alumni network in fostering deeper educational exchanges between Taiwan and Malaysia. One of the delegation members, Mr. Boon-Han Tan, President of the Alumni Cheng Kung University of Taiwan in Malaysia (ACKUM), shared his experience studying at NCKU and mentioned that over the years, ACKUM has spared no effort in promoting Taiwan-Malaysia education. Its long-running “ACKUM Sci Math Competition” has become one of the key platforms for Malaysian students to showcase their abilities.
Prof. Sun Yuan Hsieh, Vice President of International Affairs of NCKU, pointed out that Malaysian students rank at the top in the proportion of overseas students at NCKU. Last year, NCKU also hosted an event for the Delegation of Malaysian Chinese Independent High Schools and the Kuala Lumpur Taiwan School, inviting representatives from 19 high schools to visit NCKU, further strengthening reciprocal educational cooperation. Moreover, NCKU has offered generous scholarships and a variety of resources to help Malaysian students smoothly adapt to life and studies in Taiwan, in the hope of facilitating their personal development in a friendly learning environment.

After an engaging round of discussions, the delegation was taken to the renowned Bayan Garden on campus to feel NCKU’s academic atmosphere.
