【NCKU OIA eNews】 NCKU and BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg Forge Dual Degree Partnership

Representatives of NCKU and BTU reviewed the current dual degree program and discussed the possibility of advancing the agreement.

 

On March 4, 2025, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) proudly hosted representatives from Germany's Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU). The visit marked a significant milestone in the academic collaboration between the two universities where they reviewed and decided to extend the dual degree program in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and discussed the possibility of advancing the collaboration.

Chair Prof. Sun-Yuan Hsieh, Vice President for International Affairs, highlighted that this partnership is set to provide students from both universities with expanded access to international learning opportunities, advanced academic resources, and cross-cultural experiences. By fostering an environment of global exchange, the program aims to equip students with skills and perspectives that are increasingly vital in today's interconnected world.

Prof. Harald Schwarz, the initiator of the dual degree program, underscored the commitment of both NCKU and BTU to enhancing academic excellence and cultivating globally competitive talent. Students who enroll in this program not only broaden their academic horizons but also prepare themselves for dynamic career paths in a rapidly evolving global job market.  

Prof. Mario Schenk, Chair of Faculty of high voltage engineering and electrical installations at BTU, expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration, emphasizing their dedication to fostering international partnerships that contribute to the professional and personal growth of their students. This dual degree program represents an exciting chapter for both institutions, paving the way for future collaborations and inspiring students to become leaders in their respective fields on a global stage.
