【NCKU OIA eNews】 Spring 2025 NCKU Exchange Student Orientation: Essential Guidance on Safety, Culture, and Campus Life

NCKU welcomed 29 exchange students coming from 21 partner universities in the spring semester of 2025.

 

The "Spring 2025 NCKU Exchange Student Orientation" was organized by the Division of Study Abroad of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). It was attended by 29 exchange students from 21 partner universities across 14 countries, along with 12 Campus Linker student volunteers, who assisted with course registration, campus check-in, and provided information on campus life and local living.

The event began with a welcome speech by Prof. Wang Shu-Ying, Director, Division of Study Abroad.

 

In an enriching series of lectures designed for exchange students, professional speakers shared invaluable insights that enhanced their understanding of life in Tainan. The lectures featured Ms. Ann Yeh, Lieutenant Colonel from the Tainan City Police Department, who emphasized the importance of safety awareness, discussing topics such as scams, drug safety, and traffic rules. Ms. Lin Yi-Hua, an English-speaking tour guide from the Tainan City Tourism Bureau, captivated students with an engaging overview of Tainan's vibrant history, unique traditions, and delicious local cuisine. NCKU counselor Ms. Nancy Yen drew from her personal experiences as an exchange student, addressing common challenges and outlining the mental health support and counseling services available on campus. Additionally, Ms. Franca Pai, the coordinator from the Division of Study Abroad, provided essential information regarding course registration, housing, and public transportation to ensure a smooth transition for the students.

The invited speakers provided invaluable insights and guidance to exchange students on essential topics for a successful experience in Tainan.

The orientation concluded with a friendly icebreaker session where exchange students and Campus Linkers introduced themselves. Afterward, at the tea break and networking session, exchange students and Campus Linkers seized the opportunity to interact further in a relaxed atmosphere, enjoying delicious snacks while building stronger connections.
