Participants joined the Opening Ceremony of the Foon Yew High School Higher Education School Fair, hoping to strengthen their presence in Malaysia.
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) continues to strengthen its presence in Malaysia, a key source of international students, where Malaysian students form the largest group. To further enhance its reputation and outreach, NCKU participated in the “Foon Yew High School Higher Education School Fair” on January 19 and 20, 2025. The event was held at the Johor Bahru Main Campus and Kulai Campus.
Foon Yew High School is one of Malaysia’s largest and oldest Chinese independent high schools, with 1,744 senior-year students across both campuses. Malaysian students account for 23% of NCKU’s international student body, with Foon Yew graduates making up 11% of its Malaysian undergraduate students. This education fair provided an opportunity to broaden recruitment channels and strengthen collaboration between NCKU and Foon Yew High School. As the only university in Taiwan invited to participate, NCKU joined institutions from Singapore, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Australia, and the UK, offering information and guidance for Foon Yew’s students on their higher education options.
The NCKU booth was visited by the Foon Yew School Board and the NCKU Alumni Association of Malaysia, led by Chuang-Chee Gan (fourth from the left), President of Foon Yew High School Kulai, and the Association’s Former President Cheng Ti-Neng (second from the left)
Foon Yew High School became one of NCKU’s partner schools by signing the “NCKU Outstanding Student Referral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)” in 2024. Through its participation in the fair, NCKU aims to increase its visibility, attract high-caliber students, and strengthen its connections with partner schools, further expanding its recruitment efforts in Malaysia.
NCKU representatives introduced NCKU and provided admission information for students.
Members of the NCKU Division of Overseas Recruitment reunited with the Chairman of Foon Yew School Board and the President of Foon Yew High School, who visited NCKU last year.
