【Delegation of Lehigh University (USA) Visits National Cheng Kung University】

The delegation of Lehigh University (USA) visited National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) on May 28th, there were a total of 23 visitors, with faculty, and students from the Martindale Program included. The group was on a research trip to Taiwan (May. 21 through Jun. 1), professors from the program guided their students here to gain a holistic overview of Taiwan through various speakers - business, government policy, culture, and social issues; as a world-renowned university, NCKU was also selected, as one of the visiting stops.  

Prof. Shu-Jung Hu, the Associate Vice President for International Affairs of NCKU, gave an opening speech to welcome the guests, followed by several sessions about NCKU and Taiwan as the Martindale Honors students would ultimately choose a topic to research and write about during their senior year at Lehigh University, which will be published in a worldwide journal “Perspectives of Business and Economics”. Ms. Ada Huang, Manager of Office of International Affairs (OIA), NCKU, shared the admission information and highlights of NCKU with the visitors.

After the NCKU introduction session, OIA invited several our professors to share their insights on different topics. Prof. Chun-Jen Chen, Professor of the Department of Law, gave a speech on the issues in criminal law, the justice system, and intellectual property rights specific to Taiwan. The second speech was about Housing justice and real estate issues in Taiwan, delivered by Prof. Yen-Jong Chen, Professor of the Department of Urban Planning. Finally, Dir. Mei-Ying Wu, Director of the Chinese Language Center (CLC), gave an overview of CLC, such as the Teaching Chinese As a Foreign Language (TCSL) Program and the Seasonal Regular Class.

The visit ended successfully with an exchange session of appreciation gifts, representing the friendship between the two universities.
