【NCKU OIA eNews】 OIA Welcomes Overseas Students at 2026 Spring Orientation

Vice President for International Affairs, Chair Prof. Sun-Yuan Hsieh, together with representatives from the Foreign Affairs Division of the Tainan City Police Department, extend a warm welcome to the Spring 2026 incoming students and share practical information for living in Taiwan.
Office of International Affairs (OIA) held the 2026 Spring Overseas Students Orientation on February 23, welcoming newly admitted international students as they begin their academic journey in Taiwan. The event was organized by the Division of Overseas Students and Scholars Services (OSSS), with approximately 30 students in attendance.
In the 2026 spring semester, NCKU admitted 101 overseas students from 16 countries, including Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Pakistan, Japan, the Kingdom of Eswatini, Tanzania, France, Russia, South Korea, the United States, Mongolia, Myanmar, and Guatemala. The diverse student body reflects NCKU’s continued commitment to global engagement and internationalization.

The orientation opened with welcoming remarks by Vice President for International Affairs, Chair Prof. Sun-Yuan Hsieh, who encouraged students to embrace new challenges and make full use of university resources. To support students’ transition to life in Taiwan, representatives from the Foreign Affairs Division of the Tainan City Police Department provided important information on legal regulations and personal safety.
In addition, the Counseling and Wellness Services Division introduced mental health resources and support channels available on campus, while the Chinese Language Center (CLC) shared details about its Study Buddy Program to promote language exchange and cultural integration.
OSSS also provided essential reminders regarding registration, residence procedures, and daily-life support services. Through comprehensive briefings and interactive exchanges, the orientation aimed to help overseas freshmen quickly adapt to campus life, better understand Taiwanese culture, and confidently embark on their new academic chapter at NCKU.
