【NCKU OIA eNews】 NCKU Hosts Two Lectures to Inspire Students to Embrace Global Perspectives
As part of the 2025 Global Perspective Lectures (GPL) organized by OIA at NCKU, students and faculty gathered on October 30 (Thursday) for a thought-provoking workshop. Which attracted 44 NCKU students to participate.

Ms. Chun-Yuan Hu from Refugee 101 Taiwan brings a global humanitarian issue to a local audience.
The session was led by Ms. Chun-Yuan Hu from Refugee 101 Taiwan, an organization dedicated to refugee education and advocacy. The workshop aimed to bring a global humanitarian issue closer to local audiences by encouraging participants to step into the shoes of displaced people worldwide.
For many, refugee issues may feel distant or abstract. However, as highlighted during the workshop, more than 100 million people worldwide have been forcibly displaced from their homes due to conflict, persecution, or disaster—a number that continues to rise. Through interactive activities, real-world case studies, and guided discussions, participants were invited to reflect on the lived experiences of refugees and the difficult choices they face. Rather than focusing solely on statistics, the workshop emphasized empathy, critical thinking, and ethical responsibility, helping attendees better understand the complex realities behind forced migration. By fostering dialogue and awareness, the event aligned closely with GPL’s mission to cultivate global citizenship and social responsibility among the NCKU community, leaving participants with deeper insight and a renewed sense of connection to pressing global challenges.
