【NCKU OIA eNews】 NCKU-Purdue Dual Degree Summer Intensive Course Offers Firsthand Experience of Top University Life
Students celebrate program’s completion with a group photo on Purdue campus.
The NCKU-Purdue Dual Degree Program continued its tradition this summer, with 25 first-year students visiting Purdue University from July 3 to 19, 2025. The students participated in intensive courses and academic exchanges, marking another milestone for the program, now in its fifth year.
Jointly organized by NCKU’s Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science, together with Purdue’s Schools of Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Electrical and Computer Engineering, the 3+1+1 program allows students to earn a bachelor’s degree from NCKU and a master’s degree from Purdue within five years.
During the program, students attended specialized courses at Purdue’s College of Engineering and visited world-class research facilities, including the Zucrow Laboratories—the largest university propulsion laboratory in the U.S.—and the Birck Nanotechnology Center, a leading research hub in nanotechnology. They also engaged in group discussions with Purdue mechanical engineering students, gaining first-hand experience in international teamwork. A highlight of this year’s trip was the rare opportunity to attend classes at Purdue’s Honors College, designed to foster creativity and interdisciplinary thinking.

Beyond academics, the group visited the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, broadening their cultural and scientific perspectives. The program not only deepened students’ understanding of their future academic fields but also enhanced their global outlook, inspiring them to pursue further studies in the U.S.
