Now in its second year, the program began in September 2024 with the first signing of the Outstanding Student Referral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The response was overwhelmingly positive. As of May 2025, four secondary schools have successfully referred seven students admitted to NCKU through different admission channels. Schools participated in this year’s program also signed the Outstanding Student Referral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under which each participating school will be entitled two slots to recommend outstanding students to apply to NCKU. The students will be granted tuition fee waivers and scholarships.

The opening ceremony began with the welcoming remarks by Prof. Shyy-Woei Chang, Executive Vice President of NCKU. He shared that NCKU’s strength lies in its strong connection with industry and active participation in various national defense projects, allowing students to gain world-class expertise in their fields. NCKU’s long-standing success in industry-academia collaboration demonstrates that students receive knowledge and valuable experience in industry engagement, cutting-edge technological challenges, and interdisciplinary teamwork with research groups. NCKU also provided comprehensive support for overseas students who travel from afar to study at the university. Malaysian students comprise one of the largest overseas student groups at NCKU, accounting for roughly one-fourth of the population. To help Malaysian adapt smoothly to study in Taiwan, NCKU is committed to creating a friendly environment, offering scholarship opportunities, and providing a wide range of support resources. The four-day visit program offers participating school representatives a comprehensive opportunity to gain firsthand insights into NCKU. Through interactions with Malaysian students currently studying at the university, meetings with faculty deans and representatives, and on-site campus visits, participants are well-equipped to recommend NCKU as a destination for Malaysian students’ further studies.
