NCKU representatives promoted enrollment of international students and deepened educational exchanges at the event.
Since 2024, Taiwan has implemented its International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE Program) to cultivate talent aligned with key industries and address workforce shortages caused by an aging population. As one of the participating universities, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) was invited by Cheng Shiu University, to join the “2025 INTENSE Program Education Fair in Indonesia. Representing NCKU at the event were Prof. Wei-Cheng Wang, Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics (left), and Mr. Matthew Mak, Manager of the Office of International Affairs (right).
Prof. Wang introduced NCKU’s distinctive features and international student admission information.
Joined by 13 national and private universities in Taiwan, the Fair took place on April 21 at Airlangga University in Surabaya and April 23 at Politeknik Negeri Batam on Batam Island. During the opening on April 21 in Surabaya, Director-General Yu-Huei Yang of the Department of Technical and Vocational Education in Taiwan, Prof. Jui-Chang Kung, President of Cheng Shiu University, Dr. Beny Bandanadjaja of the Ministry of Education in Indonesia, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Madyan, Rector of Airlangga University, delivered insightful remarks.
In the afternoon, each participating university presented highlights of its 2025 program features. During NCKU’s session, Prof. Wei-Cheng Wang introduced Tainan’s rich cultural heritage, the university’s academic strengths, and its industry-linked career guidance designed to support international graduates. The Education Fair strengthens Taiwan-Indonesia educational ties and aims to attract more outstanding Indonesian students to study in Taiwan, fostering long-term mutual benefits for both countries.
