KSHS and Miyazaki Omiya High School students had a productive day at NCKU, exploring future developments and building cross-cultural connections.
On February 27, 2025, the Office of International Affairs at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) warmly welcomed a delegation from Kaohsiung Municipal Kaohsiung Senior High School (KSHS) and Miyazaki Omiya High School in Japan for an enriching academic and cultural exchange. The visit aimed to foster international collaboration, broaden students' global perspectives, and enhance their understanding of diverse educational fields.

Prof. Sherry Shu-Jung Hu, Associate Vice President for International Affairs and Director of the Division of Overseas Recruitment and Admission at NCKU, highlighted the advantages of studying in Taiwan for Japanese students and underscored the importance of global academic exchange. KSHS Principal Fu-Tai Chuang remarked that NCKU's strong academic reputation and strategic location make it a top choice for KSHS graduates pursuing higher education.
The delegation was introduced to NCKU's rich history, academic strengths, and forward-looking vision. Two alumni from KSHS and a Japanese student currently studying at NCKU shared their learning experiences, offering first-hand insights. The interactive session sparked engaging discussions on academic and career advancement.
Mr. Hirakawa Eigen, a student from the School of Medicine, shared his study experiences at NCKU with the audience.
In the afternoon, students attended an optics experiment class led by Prof. Hsu-Cheng Hsu, a KSHS alumnus, which encouraged hands-on scientific exploration. Prof. Chun Hei Antonio Cheung, Professor at Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine introduced medical programs offered at the College of Medicine, NCKU. Later, KSHS alumnus and current NCKU medical student Pei-Hsiang Chen guided the delegation through the Guo Ding Clinical Skills Center, where students engaged in clinical training activities such as blood drawing. This immersive experience gave participants valuable insights into clinical medicine, effectively bridging theoretical knowledge with practical skills.
This visit strengthened academic ties among the three institutions and provided students with invaluable cross-cultural learning experiences, inspiring them in their future educational and professional pursuits.
