To welcome year 2025 and strengthen the connections and collaborations among National Cheng Kung University’s (NCKU) international scholars, the Division of Overseas Students and Scholars Services (OSSS), Office of International Affairs (OIA) at NCKU, hosted the Year-End Gathering for International Scholars on December 23rd, 2024. The event invited international scholars from various colleges, aiming to promote cultural exchange and academic dialogue among dozens of scholars from 19 countries worldwide. The gathering provided an opportunity to review the research achievements of 2024 and envision future directions for development.

The event began with the opening remarks of Chair Prof. Sun-Yuan, Hsieh, Vice President for International Affairs. On behalf of the OIA, Professor Hsieh expressed heartfelt gratitude to the international scholars, acknowledging their active participation in on-campus and external activities over the past year and their significant contributions to advancing international exchange at the university. Professor Hsieh emphasized the OIA’s ongoing commitment to supporting international scholars, enhancing collaboration, improving the research environment, and fostering academic accomplishments. Additionally, he highlighted plans to introduce diverse and enriching service initiatives to increase satisfaction among international scholars, further boosting their confidence in academic and daily life in Taiwan. He expressed his hopes to work with scholars to deepen roots in Taiwan and create a welcoming environment for both research and living.
Currently, NCKU hosts over 60 full-time and part-time international scholars from 19 countries. This event served not only as a vital platform for academic exchange but also as a demonstration of the university’s partnership with the government in actively promoting talent cultivation and retention policies, successfully attracting outstanding international scholars.
The Year-End Gathering for International Scholars concluded successfully, laying a solid foundation for the university and its international scholars to advance collaboratively into a promising academic and cultural future.
