【NCKU OIA eNews】 Delegation from Penang and Chung Ling Private High School Visits NCKU, to Experience the Vibrant and Diverse Campus Life

On December 18th, 2024, led by the Penang Alumni Association of Taiwan Universities & Colleges (PAAT), a group of 61 members, including students and teachers from Chung Ling Private High School in Malaysia visited National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) to experience hands-on science experiments and the vibrant campus life.

The visit commenced with a welcoming speech by Ms. Melody Tseng, Deputy Director of the Division of Overseas Recruitment and Admission (ORA), Office of International Affairs (OIA). She highlighted Malaysia as a key partner in NCKU’s academic collaboration and talent cultivation initiatives. Malaysian students constitute the largest group of international students at NCKU. The NCKU Alumni Association of Malaysia (ACKU) has been operating proactively in Malaysia for over 50 years. The NCKU-Mathematics and Science Competition and Business Competition organized by ACKU has become one of the well-known academic competition brands. To strengthen the ties further, NCKU signed the “Malaysian High School Outstanding Student Admission Recommendation Agreement” with 19 Malaysian high schools in September 2024, of which Chung Ling Private High School was one of the partners.

Mr. Chong-Tat Ooi, PAAT President, who was also an NCKU alumnus, encouraged students to pursue further study at NCKU. He also envisioned more collaborative opportunities with NCKU in the future. Following his remarks, Ms. Charlotte Li, Senior Executive Manager of ORA, introduced NCKU’s academic resources, scholarship programs, and international student admission processes. Student representatives Qing-Ray Wong and Zi-Ken Ng shared their vibrant campus life, highlighting their experience applying for and studying at NCKU, as well as extracurricular opportunities.
 


Prof. Hsu-Cheng Hsu, Director of the Science Education Center, demonstrated fascinating science experiments and explained the principles behind.

The group also visited NCKU’s Science Education Center, where Prof. Hsu-Cheng Hsu, Center Director demonstrated engaging photonics experiments and explained the underlying principles. The interactive session left a lasting impression, sparking interest among Malaysian students and fostering a deeper appreciation for NCKU’s innovative learning environment.
