On November 13th, 2024, a delegation from Persatuan Alumni Taiwan, Selangor Dan Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia, paid a memorable visit to National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) to deepen the mutual understanding and foster reciprocal relationships while exploring potential academic partnerships. Led by President Sheau-Leng Low, the 10-member delegation was warmly welcomed by the Office of International Affairs (OIA), NCKU.
Chair Prof. Sun-Yuan Hsieh, Vice President for International Affairs, extended a heartfelt welcome to the Malaysian delegation.
The visit began with the welcoming remarks given by Chair Prof. Sun-Yuan Hsieh, who emphasized NCKU’s dedication to fostering educational collaborations with Malaysia, a vital and supportive partner with a strong community of NCKU alumni. He highlighted the university’s active engagement in academic competitions and exchange programs with Malaysian institutions, which enrich cross-cultural learning opportunities. Notably, NCKU recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc. (ASE) in September, aimed at providing internship opportunities and career support for NCKU's international students.
Following the opening remarks, Prof. Shu-Jung Hu, Associate Vice President for International Affairs, delivered a comprehensive introduction to NCKU. The presentation covered academic resources, campus life, and admissions for international students. NCKU’s appeal to international students was further illustrated by Jun-Hui Ong, a PhD student at the Institute of Allied Health Sciences, who shared her experiences, highlighting the university’s global reputation and supportive environment.

Mr. Wuen-Khai Teah, Financial Officer of Persatuan Alumni Taiwan, Selangor Dan Wilayah Persekutuan, gave a briefing on the role and activities of the Alumni Association in supporting education in Taiwan and fostering stronger academic ties.
The meeting concluded with an engaging interaction, followed by a visit to the College of Medicine. The visit highlighted NCKU’s commitment to international cooperation, especially in student development and alumni engagement.
