The Taiwan Comprehensive University System (TCUS) hosted a cultural field trip for international students on October 17th and 18th, 2024. Approximately 50 international students and staff from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), National Chung Cheng University (NCCU), National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), and National Sun Yat-Sen University (NSYSU). This enriching experience included visits to various locations in Hsinchu and Miaoli, such as the Spring Pool Glass Factory, Taiwan Hakka Museum, Flower Home Farm, and Sheng-Hsing Old Street.
The adventure began at the Spring Pool Glass Factory in Hsinchu, where students discovered the intricate art of glassmaking and the skill of crafting exquisite glass pieces. They also experience sandblasted glass DIY, allowing them to create unique glass cups independently. On the second day, the group visited the Hakka Museum in Miaoli, where they delved into the vibrant heritage and traditions of the Hakka community through engaging exhibits and learned how to speak Hakka with the guidance of a knowledgeable instructor.

After enjoying a delicious lunch, the students explored Flower Home Farm, immersing themselves in the peaceful surroundings and taking pictures of these pretty flowers and plants. The afternoon was spent wandering through Sheng-Hsing Old Street, known for its historical charm and local delicacies, allowing everyone to experience the essence of Taiwanese culture.
This cultural field trip offered international students a unique opportunity to connect with Taiwan's diverse traditions and picturesque landscapes, fostering unforgettable memories and friendships.
