【Taiwan Comprehensive University System Holds A Cultural Field Trip for International Students to Sun Moon Lake and Wu Feng】

The Taiwan Comprehensive University System (TCUS) has organized a cultural field trip for international students to Sun Moon Lake and Wu Feng Lin Family Mansion and Garden on May 17th and 18th. There were a total of 55 students from Argentina, Bangladesh, Belize, Belgium, China, Colombia, Egypt, France, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Italy, Lithuania, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

The initial destination on our itinerary was the Checheng Area, where participants gained insight into the significant role of the logging industry in supporting the livelihoods of the Taiwanese indigenous peoples. Following a substantial lunch, the group proceeded to Sun Moon Lake, where all members enjoyed a cycling tour around the picturesque lake. The collective awe inspired by the magnificent views of Taiwan was palpable among the group.

The next day, the group visited the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.  Immersing themselves through various exhibitions, participants learned how the ancient and modern Taiwanese artists created and made beautiful works surrounding us. In the afternoon, the participants had come to the final scenic spot, the Wu Feng Lin Family Mansion and Garden. In this majestic mansion, people can not only appreciate the beauty of traditional Chinese architecture but also learn the history of Lin family, which was one of the five wealthiest families in Taiwan. The last but not least activity was the serigraph. Everyone was given a traditional round fan without any pattern on it and experienced the serigraph printing by themselves. It was indeed the finest souvenir to have on a scorching sunlit day.
