2024 Spring Semester Overseas Student Orientation

NCKU’s Overseas Students Orientation for the 2024 Spring semester was held on Feb. 16, aiming to familiarize international and exchange students with the campus environment and help them adapt to life in Taiwan. With over 80 students from various countries participating, the event adds an international flair to the university campus.

During the opening ceremony of the orientation, Prof. Chun Hei Antonio Cheung, the director of the Division of Overseas Students and Scholars Services, extended a warm welcome to the foreign students joining NCKU. He actively engaged with the students, fostering a sense of connection and understanding. Prof. Cheung emphasized that education is not only about the transfer of knowledge but also about cultural exchange. He hoped the new students would have a fulfilling and enriching campus life at NCKU.

In addition to academic support, the OIA invited representatives from the local police department, education bureau, and Counseling and Wellness Division to share important information with the students about matters they should be aware of both on campus and in Taiwan. These insights from various professionals will contribute to the student's successful adjustment to studying abroad and ensure their safety and well-being.

Professor Shu-Ying Wang, the Director for Study Abroad, delivered a welcoming message that the Division of Study Abroad is committed to provide assistances for exchange students throughout their studies in NCKU. The orientation covered essential reminders for students regarding registration procedures and campus protocols. Additionally, a brief introduction to NCKU's campus and environment was provided to help the exchange students settle and integrate smoothly into the new surroundings.

The OIA highlights that such orientation provides essential information and assistance to new students, and contributes to creating a friendly and inclusive campus atmosphere. The aim is to cultivate an environment where students can have a fruitful and enjoyable international learning experience at NCKU, becoming standout members of the international campus community.
