NCKU Strengthens International Partnerships at APAIE 2024

 

The National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) delegation joined the 2024 Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Annual Conference in Perth, Australia on the 5th to 7th of March, as one of the exhibitors along with 28 other Taiwanese Universities and Academia Sinica under the “Study in Taiwan” booth coordinated by the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (FICHET).

 

The NCKU delegation met with representatives of Airlangga Global Engagement, Universitas Airlangga to explore further collaboration

 

Led by Prof. Sherry Shu-Jung Hu, Associate Vice President for International Affairs, the delegation met with 17 institutions across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania, including the University of Western Australia, Charles University, University of Tübingen, Keio University, Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, Universitas Airlangga, University of Ottawa, etc., in order to explore opportunities to establish new collaboration and strengthen existing partnership. The delegation also participated in a number of networking events and workshops conducted during the conference, to understand the latest trends of various aspects in higher education of different countries.

On the 8th of March, the NCKU delegation visited the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), one of NCKU’s newest institutional partners, and was received by Mr. Leo Mian Liu, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Global Partnerships), Mr. Innes Ireland, Deputy Director (Global Engagement) at UTS International, and Prof. Eryk Dutkiewicz, Associate Dean International in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. Potential areas of collaboration were discussed, particularly ways to facilitate deeper engagement through student mobility and multi-lateral research collaboration utilizing the network of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) of which both institutions are members.

The Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) was established in 2004 with the aim of promoting development of higher education in the Asia-Pacific region. The APAIE annual conference serves as an exchange platform for managers and administrators of higher education institutions, offering workshops, seminars, campus visits as well as networking sessions. With over 2,500 participants from more than 50 countries, APAIE is a significant educational event in the Asia-Pacific region.
