【A delegation led by President Yassine Lakhnech of the Université Grenoble Alpes, France, visited NCKU to strengthen partnership】
In order to deepen the partnership between NCKU and Université Grenoble-Alpes (UGA), Professor Yassine Lakhnech, the President of UGA, and Mr. Martin Oudart, Special Advisor to the President, visited NCKU on July 17, 2023, to discuss the potential of further research collaborations and student research exchanges between the two institutions. NCKU arranged a whole-day academic meeting, which was chaired by Prof. Hong-Chen Chen (Executive Vice President) and with attendees including Prof. Chuan-Pu Liu (Vice President for Research & Development), Prof. Charles Lin (ex-Vice President for International Affairs), Prof. Meng-Hsueh Chiang (microelectronics), Prof. Yeong-Cherng Liang (quantum), Prof. Jen-Sue Chen (microelectronics) and Prof. Paul-Antoine Moreau (quantum), to present NCKU’s current research interests while mining ways to extend future efforts in innovation in areas like semiconductors, quantum sciences and technology, geography, and artificial intelligence. During the meeting, President Prof. Lakhnech presented the national policy and strategy, “France 2030”, which aims to explore more potentials in bilateral cooperation, to the NCKU counterpart. Following the academic meeting, the NCKU President Prof. Men-Ru Shen hosted a luncheon to greet the UGA delegates. To advance sustainable cooperation between UGA and NCKU, President Shen expressed his plan in visiting UGA in October, 2023. After the lunch, the UGA delegation visited the Center for Quantum Frontier of Research and Technology (QFort), the Core Facility Center tour, and explored the NCKU Campuses in the afternoon.
Note: Université Grenoble-Alpes was established in 1339 and it is the third-largest university in France with around 60,000 students and 3,000 researchers. It is traditionally renowned for its research and education in the natural sciences and engineering, as well as law, economics, psychology, humanity and political sciences. Covering all disciplinary fields, UGA has more than 100 research departments spread out in six centers. The University is organized around two closely located urban campuses: Domaine Universitaire and Campus GIANT in Grenoble which is situated in the city of Grenoble lies on the river Drac at the foot of the French Alps. NCKU and UGA signed a MOU in 2019. Since then, NCKU has had four students exchanged to UGA through the exchange program.
