【NCKU OIA eNews】NCKU Brings Its Story to 10 Malaysian Schools, With Alumni Leading the Way
From July 6 to July 22, 2026, four representatives from the Division of Overseas Recruitment and Admission, Office of International Affairs (OIA), traveled across Malaysia for the 2026 Malaysia-Taiwan Higher Education Fair, organized by the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia (FAATUM). Staffing booths at 10 schools in Kulai, Klang, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sibu, and Kota Kinabalu, the team reached approximately 7,750 students and visitors across West and East Malaysia.

At the fair, students inquired about departments, language requirements, scholarships, and application timelines; the questions not only reflected their varied backgrounds but also revealed their study preferences. In West Malaysia, many students considered Taiwan a premier destination for higher education. In Penang, where many students are not ethnic Chinese, scholarships weighed heavily in overseas study decisions. In East Malaysia, medicine and dentistry drew the most interest, while students from English-medium schools in Sabah asked how they would cope with Mandarin-taught courses. The recruitment team addressed their inquiries by highlighting suitable programs and introducing resources to support their study at NCKU.

Local NCKU graduates, from recent alumni to those who earned their degrees more than three decades ago, came to the booths to share their own study experiences and help field questions, serving as the most persuasive voices of the fair.

In Kota Kinabalu, recent graduates even met with three admitted students, who were due to begin their studies at NCKU in September, guiding them through enrollment procedures and what to expect on arrival. The recruitment team also noted growing interest from students at National-Type Secondary Schools, a key demographic it views as a priority for future outreach.
