【NCKU OIA eNews】NCKU Takes Part in 2026 THEFI, Engaging Over 7,000 Prospective Indonesian Students Across Java and Sumatra
The 2026 Taiwan Higher Education Fair Indonesia (THEFI) brought NCKU to five Indonesian cities over nine days — Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, and Medan — as part of a six-session exhibition organized by ICATI (Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities in Indonesia). Running from August 1 to 9, 2026, the fair featured 65 Taiwanese universities and drew tens of thousands of visitors, making it one of Indonesia's largest higher education fairs this year.

The 2026 THEFI officiated by the representatives of Taiwan Economic and Trade Office,
Ministry of Education, University Entrance Committee for Overseas Compatriot Students, and ICATI.
Throughout the fair, the NCKU delegation engaged with more than 7,000 students and parents, many of whom came well-prepared with questions about degree programs, admission requirements, scholarships, and campus life. As the largest international student cohort at NCKU, Indonesian students benefit from a strong alumni and student network. This connection was evident at the booth, where local NCKU alumni and student volunteers guided prospective students and parents, addressed questions and concerns in their native language, and empowered them with greater confidence as they considered applying to NCKU.

Moreover, the NCKU delegation was honored to meet with the president and members of the NCKU Indonesian Alumni Association, the discussion focused on regional trends in higher education and the aspirations of Indonesian students considering studying in Taiwan. With one of the most active alumni networks among NCKU’s overseas communities, the association continues to serve as an indispensable partner in strengthening NCKU’s brand presence and recruitment influence in Indonesia.
