【NCKU OIA eNews】From Huayu BEST to Broader Academic Collaboration: NCKU-Auburn Taiwan Center Deepens U.S.-Taiwan Exchange
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and Auburn University have long maintained a robust strategic partnership. On July 29, 2026, Dr. Andy Gillespie, Assistant Provost for International Programs at Auburn University, led a distinguished delegation to visit NCKU. NCKU Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Wen-Tai Chiu, welcomed the Auburn guests and engaged in enthusiastic, fruitful discussions to further advance bilateral academic and language collaboration.
The visiting Auburn delegation included:
- Dr. Andy Gillespie: Assistant Provost, International Programs
- Prof. Shu-Wen Tzeng: Director of AU–NCKU Taiwan Center of Chinese Language and Culture
- Dr. Ellie Lee: Academic Programs Director of Korea Center–King Sejong Institute
- Mr. Daniel Kim: Cultural Program Specialist of Korea Center–King Sejong Institute

NCKU and AU remain vital strategic partners for years.
Over the years, NCKU and Auburn University have achieved remarkable synergy in engineering education and academic collaboration. Under the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative and the Ministry of Education's "Taiwan Huayu BEST Program," NCKU helped establish the AU–NCKU Taiwan Center of Chinese Language and Culture at Auburn, dispatching Mandarin instructors to the U.S. while welcoming Auburn students to NCKU for language learning and cultural immersion.
Prof. Wen-Tai Chiu emphasized that Auburn University remains a vital strategic partner for NCKU, and this visit further consolidates the long-standing institutional bond. Moving forward, NCKU and Auburn University will continue to deepen cross-disciplinary integration, student exchange, and language education, jointly cultivating top global talent.
