【NCKU OIA eNews】 NCKU-Purdue Dual Degree Program Summer Intensive Course Enhances Engineering Learning and Global Exchange
The NCKU-Purdue Dual Degree Program organized a two-week Summer Intensive Course at Purdue University from July 5 to July 19, with 25 students participating under the guidance of the Deputy Director of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and staff from the Office of International Affairs. The program was designed by Purdue University’s School of Engineering Education, featuring professional courses and group project presentations to enhance students’ engineering design, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
During the program, students visited the Data Science and AI Building and the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing to explore cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence, data science, and high-performance computing. They also toured major research and innovation facilities at Purdue, including Herrick Laboratories, Birck Nanotechnology Center, Bechtel Innovation Design Center, and the Envision Center. Through guided tours and expert explanations, students gained insights into advanced research and applications in thermal-fluid systems, semiconductor and nanotechnology, digital manufacturing, as well as immersive visualization and simulation technologies.
On July 15, students attended the senior capstone project presentations hosted by Purdue’s School of Mechanical Engineering, exchanging ideas with American students and experiencing Purdue’s project-based engineering education model. The program concluded with a closing ceremony attended by Professor Joyce Main, Director of Purdue’s School of Engineering Education, program advisors, and the first cohort alumni of the NCKU-Purdue Dual Degree Program. Students shared their learning experiences and engaged in meaningful discussions, marking a memorable conclusion to the two-week intensive program. Finally, a cultural visit to Chicago’s architecture river cruise further enriched this international learning experience.
