To encourage students to expand their international horizons and pursue advanced degrees in the United States, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) hosted the "Fulbright Scholar Program and Study in the U.S. Information Session" on Monday, May 18, 2026. Held from 12:00 to 13:30 at Lecture Room 3, International Conference Hall, Kuang-Fu Campus, National Cheng Kung University, the event attracted an enthusiastic crowd of 110 registered participants, reflecting the strong ambition of NCKU students to study abroad.

The event commenced with an opening address by Prof. Chin-Lung Yang, Associate Vice President for International Affairs of the Office of International Affairs. Prof. Chin-Lung Yang welcomed the attendees and encouraged students to actively explore international academic opportunities and broaden their global perspectives.

The keynote speaker for the session was Ms. Jaynie Cheng, EducationUSA Advisor of the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan). Under the core theme "Why Fulbright?", Ms. Jaynie Cheng introduced the Fulbright Scholar Program as the premier official source for understanding American higher education, emphasizing that all of its counseling and advising services are completely free of charge.

During her comprehensive presentation, Ms. Jaynie Cheng guided students through the process of finding their ideal Fulbright pathways and outlined the detailed application steps. She broke down the "5 Steps to Study in the U.S.," which include information gathering and exploring financial aid options. Furthermore, she demystified the holistic evaluation process which considers academics, essays, additional materials, and interviews, and clarified the nuanced differences between a Personal Statement and a Statement of Purpose. To support the students' preparation, she also shared various free mentorship resources and encouraged everyone to stay connected through Fulbright’s Facebook, Instagram, and Brown Bag Webinars, reassuring the audience with the message, "We Are Here to Help!"

Students also inquired eagerly about available preparatory counseling resources, demonstrating their proactive attitude toward global education.
