National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) welcomed a 41-member delegation from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Thailand, on 31 March 2026, as part of a two-week Summer Camp jointly organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) of both universities. The delegation led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somyot Kaitwanidvilai, Dean of the School of Engineering at KMITL, comprised a group of 27 BME students and 14 faculty members, including 2 from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT).

Receiving the delegation on behalf of NCKU were Associate Vice President for the Office of Research and Development Wen-Tai Chiu and Associate Vice President for International Affairs Sherry Shu-Jung Hu. The program opened with remarks and a gift exchange between both NCKU and KMITL, followed by an introduction to NCKU’s admission pathways.

To give the delegation a deeper understanding of student life at NCKU, the Office of International Affairs featured two NCKU Thai postgraduate students from the Department of Biomedical Engineering — Mr. Buasiri Chamchoy and Ms. Nayada Srikamhom — in a sharing session. They spoke warmly of NCKU’s culturally diverse and inclusive campus community, highlighting events such as the Songkran Festival organized by the Thai Student Association and cultural celebrations by students from other countries, which together foster a strong sense of home for international students. They also introduced NCKU’s research laboratories and emphasized the university’s strengths as an environment for engineering and research, encouraging the visiting students to consider NCKU for their postgraduate studies.

Rounding out the day’s program, the delegation experienced a hands-on virtual reality demonstration of anatomy at the College of Medicine, where visiting students donned VR goggles to explore one of NCKU’s innovative approaches to medical education. With KMITL being a close and longstanding partner of NCKU, the visit provided yet another opportunity for students and faculty to gain firsthand knowledge of the university and its academic offerings.
