Representatives of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) went to Penang, Malaysia, from 8 to 12 March 2026 to participate in the Taiwan Higher Education School Outreach Fair, organized by the Penang Alumni Association of Taiwan Universities. Joining the delegation were Charlotte Li, Senior Executive Manager of the Office of International Affairs (OIA), and Kassandra Chin, a senior student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Together with representatives from 33 other Taiwanese universities, the NCKU delegation visited six secondary schools across Penang from 9 to 11 March, introducing students to NCKU’s academic strengths and the advantages of pursuing higher education in Taiwan. Students demonstrated strong interest in engineering, business management, and psychology, and frequently raised questions about dormitory facilities, campus life, and scholarship opportunities. NCKU’s affiliated hospital and its role as a key hub in southern Taiwan’s medical network also drew notable attention, particularly among students aspiring to study medicine.

Alongside the school outreach program, the delegation participated in networking events hosted by the Penang Taiwan Alumni Association, including welcome and farewell receptions. These gatherings facilitated exchanges with principals of the participating schools, college counselors, and university representatives. During the sessions, the Association also introduced the “Penang Student Talent Development Program,” which collaborates with partner universities to support Penang students in pursuing higher education in Taiwan through scholarships and financial subsidies.

The visit concluded with a campus presentation at Phor Tay High School, featuring a student sharing session on NCKU campus life. The session drew enthusiastic participation, with students actively engaging in discussions on academic programs, application procedures, and scholarship opportunities. Through school outreach and alumni collaboration, NCKU demonstrates its commitment to international engagement — bridging borders, connecting with the next generation of students, and expanding its global academic community.
