National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) recently hosted the 2025 Overseas Chinese Student Freshman Camp, themed “Where Dreams Land First”, to warmly welcome its new international cohort and facilitate a smooth transition into university life. Held from September 26 to 28 at NCKU and the Tsou Ma Lai Farm, this annual gathering was meticulously organized by the Overseas Chinese Student Association (OCSA).

The three-day adventure successfully integrated 121 participants from diverse regions, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Mexico. The camp's schedule was thoughtfully designed to introduce attendees to Taiwan's vibrant culture and build a strong sense of community. Key events included Welcome Night and Campfire Night, alongside various engaging team-building activities.

Beyond the fun and cultural immersion, the event also provided a crucial opportunity for practical skill development. Senior overseas students stepped into leadership roles, managing program details, logistics, and coordination. This responsibility enhanced their leadership and problem-solving abilities. This spirit of collaboration and mutual encouragement reflects NCKU’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

By the end of the camp, participants felt not only more acclimated to their new environment but also deeply connected to the NCKU community. The Freshman Camp successfully embodied the spirit of unity, growth, and cultural empathy that defines the international student experience at NCKU. For these new students, this event marks a significant moment when their dreams begin to take root, paving the way for an exciting and fulfilling journey.
