The Overseas Youth Taiwan Study Tour participants enjoyed the NCKU campus tour, during which they gained a closer look at NCKU’s iconic landmarks and learned about the university’s vibrant academic and cultural environment.

On August 8, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) welcomed a group of 43 participants from the Overseas Youth Taiwan Study Tour, led by the China Youth Corps. The group included teachers and overseas Chinese students from the Eurasian region, aiming to deepen cross-cultural understanding and explore opportunities for higher education in Taiwan.

The session began with a welcome address by Prof. Sherry Shu-Jung Hu, Associate Vice President for International Affairs (OIA) and Director of the Division of Overseas Recruitment and Admission (ORA) at NCKU, who also presented a commemorative gift to the group. Following the warm welcome, Prof. Hu delivered an informative introduction to NCKU, emphasizing its academic features, various scholarship opportunities, diverse programs, and abundant resources. To provide a more engaging perspective, two international students–one from Indonesia and the other from Saudi Arabia–shared their experiences of applying to NCKU and studying at the university, highlighting the supportive learning environment and valuable opportunities for personal growth and development available to overseas students.

Mr. Harry Francisco, a student of the Department of Chemical Engineering, shared his enriched and fulfilling life at NCKU.

With various perspectives provided, the visiting students and teachers were overly impressed by the information presented, arousing their curiosity to learn more about this leading university. The Q&A session sparked a lively dialogue between the participants and NCKU representatives, in which many participants asked questions and made further inquiries, reflecting their strong interest in potentially studying in NCKU.

The event continued with a campus tour, where the group visited key landmarks and iconic buildings, gaining a better understanding of NCKU’s blend of cultural heritage and modern development. The brief yet memorable visit concluded smoothly, leaving the group well-informed about NCKU and better prepared to plan for their studies at the university in the near future. In a broader sense, this meaningful exchange not only enables the participants to acquire valuable insights into Taiwan’s higher education environment but also demonstrates NCKU’s commitment to fostering international engagement and cross-cultural understanding.
