As part of the 2025 Global Perspective Lectures (GPL) organized by the OIA at NCKU, NCKU welcomed trumpet player and international student Hsueh-Yang Yang on August 12 for an engaging live podcast lecture titled “Using Music to Step Outside the Comfort Zone.”

In a refreshing four-person live podcast format, Yang shared his journey as a Taiwanese student studying in the United States. With humor and sincerity, he reflected on how cultural differences in education, values, and daily life shaped his personal growth, while highlighting the challenges and opportunities of adapting to life in a new environment.

In the talk, Yang emphasized how music has served as a universal language that bridges cultural divides, connecting him with people from diverse backgrounds. The session concluded with a live trumpet performance, where Yang conveyed his story in a powerful and expressive way that words alone could not fully capture.
