Reflecting the Social Role of Universities: SATU Assembly Discusses What Higher Education Can Do About COVID-19 and Climate Change

The Presidents' Forum of Southeast Asia and Taiwan Universities (SATU President’s Forum) successfully held its General Assembly at National Cheng Kung University from November 2 to 3. The first SATU General Assembly in three years focuses on the theme “Forging Creative Pathways with International Education after the COVID-19 Pandemic – Utilizing Local Resources to Diversify Outreach and Innovation.” International educational partners discussed ways for higher education to contribute to global issues. The forum extended its discussions in sessions including “Environment and Sustainability,” “Health and Technology,” and “Digital Certification Development.”

NCKU Offers the Veritas et Conscientia Scholarship to International Students

National Cheng Kung University held on November 12 the Veritas et Conscientia Scholarship Awards Ceremony, a scholarship specially established for international students to encourage their studies and research by alleviating their financial burdens. A total of 62 recipients from countries including Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Eswatini, Belize, Slovakia, Germany, Myanmar, and South Korea received the scholarship. The ceremony was live-streamed online for close friends and families to share the joy from different countries.

NCKU hosts symposium on talent cultivation

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) organized the symposium on talent cultivation, which this year celebrates the 90th anniversary of its establishment. More than 90 representatives from academia, industry and the government yesterday discussed global trends for cultivating talent and interdisciplinary learning in the post-COVID-19 era at this year’s International Higher Education Symposium. Forum participants also signed the “Declaration of ENGAGE,” a global talent cultivation action plan.

Tainan Low Carbon City Conference at NCKU: Unwavering Determination for Sustainable Development

National Cheng Kung University and the Shalun Innovation Alliance jointly held the Tainan Low Carbon City Conference 2021 together with the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan on December 21. With “Public-Private Academic Partnerships (PPAP) for Sustainable Future” as the theme, experts from academia and industry talked about the concept and actions in sustainable development and talent cultivation. The NCKU, SIA, ECCT, and Tainan City Government signed a MOU, promising to collaborate in realizing sustainable development with joint efforts from the academia, government, and industry.

NCKU Signs MOU with Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava

National Cheng Kung University signed a memorandum of understanding with Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU) on December 9, connecting technological talents in semiconductor industry between Taiwan and Europe. Aiming to establish a collaborative relationship in comprehensive fields, the two schools will join forces to cultivate talents with the power of both industry and academia. The two schools will begin joint research projects in terms of electronics, semiconductor technology, materials science, and sustainable manufacturing.
